Our Story

Serving Pflugerville Since 2002

Cub Scout Pack 685 was founded in 2002 by a handful of Pflugerville families who believed every child deserves the chance to discover what they're made of — in the woods, on a service project, and in the community.

More than two decades later, that original spark has grown into one of the most active packs in the area. Hundreds of Scouts have earned their stripes with Pack 685, going on to become Eagle Scouts, community leaders, engineers, teachers, and parents who bring their own kids back to join.

We're proud to be chartered by Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville, whose partnership gives our program a steady home and a shared foundation of service, faith, and character.

Today, Pack 685 welcomes Kindergarten through 5th grade boys and girls from across Pflugerville. Whether a Scout stays for one year or all six, they leave with memories, friendships, and skills that last a lifetime.

Our Mission

What We're Here to Do

Scouting America's mission guides everything we do: to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. At Pack 685, that mission comes to life in Pflugerville every week.

Every rank, adventure, and badge challenges Scouts to grow — in honesty, responsibility, and respect for others. The values they learn in the den follow them for life.

Community Service

From food drives to neighborhood clean-ups, Pack 685 Scouts learn that doing a good turn daily isn't just a motto — it's a habit that strengthens our community.

Outdoor Adventure

Campouts, hikes, rocket launches, and regattas — we get kids off screens and into the world. Hands-on experiences build confidence that no classroom can replicate.

Family Connection

Cub Scouts is a family program. Parents camp alongside their kids, help run events, and share milestones. Pack 685 is built on the friendships of entire families, not just Scouts.

Immanuel Lutheran Church has been the charter organization for Pack 685 since our founding in 2002. As our charter org, Immanuel provides community support, values alignment, and a shared commitment to serving Pflugerville's families. Their partnership means Pack 685 has a stable home and a sponsor who believes in the mission of Scouting — developing young people of character, faith, and service.

We are grateful for their decades of support and the role they play in making Pack 685 possible for hundreds of Pflugerville families.

Our History

Two Decades of Adventure

Pack 685 has built a rich tradition over more than 20 years. From humble beginnings with a small group of Pflugerville families, we've grown into a thriving pack that marks every season with memorable events and milestones.

Every year a new class of Lions earns their first badge, and every spring another class of Arrow of Light Scouts crosses over into Scouts BSA — carrying Pack 685 traditions with them.

2002 — Founded
Pack 685 is chartered with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville. A small group of founding families launch the pack and hold the first Pinewood Derby.
Mid-2000s — Taking Root
Pack membership grows steadily as word spreads through Pflugerville's expanding elementary schools. Annual traditions — campouts, the Blue & Gold Banquet, and service projects — become anchors of the program.
2020–2021 — Adapting & Persisting
Like every pack, we navigated the challenges of the pandemic — finding creative ways to keep Scouts engaged, earning ranks, and connected as a community.
2022 — 20th Anniversary
Pack 685 celebrates two decades of Scouting in Pflugerville. Alumni Scouts and founding families gather to mark the milestone, reflecting on hundreds of young people shaped by the program.
2024 — Family Pack
Pack 685 becomes a family pack, officially welcoming girls alongside boys. Daughters join their brothers in every den, and the pack grows even stronger as a true family program.
Today — Still Growing
Pack 685 continues to grow with Pflugerville, welcoming new Scouts every year from across the community. The best adventures are still ahead.
Leadership

Led by Volunteer Parents

Pack 685 is entirely run by parent volunteers. Every den leader, committee member, and pack officer gives their time because they believe in what Scouting does for kids — and they've seen it firsthand with their own Scouts.
